The New England Family Wellness Foundation held its first annual 5K Children's Wellness Walk and Fair on November 7th, 2004, on 15th street next to the Foundation offices. Foundation President Michael L. Abgrab, D.C. was on hand to welcome participants and to provide some important messages to the gathered youth and adults. The goals of the event included education about the importance of daily physical exercise and proper nutritional choices and promotion of personal responsibility and community involvement. Participants included the Fall River Police and Fire Departments, the Fall River Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Mayor's Office. Music and dance exhibits by the Durfee High School Hip Hop Dancers and a wellness art contest were included in the event.
