The Trustees of
Reservations hosted the third annual Run for the Woods, a 5K run/walk on
September 12, 2004, to benefit the 13,600 acre Bioreserve. The Run has
become a September tradition in Fall River with a fun family atmosphere
and a course that features the scenic beauty of the Bioreserve. For the
serious runner, the Run offers some tough competition. For the less
competitive, the event includes a walk with a more leisurely pace. "We
have people of all ages who participate," says Linton Harrington,
Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Trustees. "There are children,
senior citizens, and parents running with baby strollers. It's a great
event for anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors and get a little
exercise." To see the race results, click

Proceeds from the race support the Trustees of Reservations' environmental education program in the Bioreserve. The Trustees provides free education programs for children from the Fall river area, many o f whom don't have the opportunity to explore the forests and fields outside the urban areas where they live.
