The third annual Get Steppin' 5K Run / Walk for Homeless in Recovery took off at 9:15 a.m. in front of Steppingstone headquarters on North Main Street. Proceeds from the event benefit the First Step Inn emergency shelter, a homeless shelter operated by Steppingstone at 175, N. Main St.. The annual event raises funds for homeless men and women in recovery, helping provide them with educational opportunities, counseling, proper nutrition, bedding and other services to help keep them clean, sober and safely sheltered.
