Teen Police Academy
Action Plan Participant:
Fall River Police Department

The Fall River Police Department Community Policing Unit works in conjunction with the Fall River schools to recruit young people interested in police work to participate in an eight-week Teen Police Academy. Run by Durfee High Schol Resource Officers with help from Durfee security officers, the Academy teaches tactics used by police in both a classroom setting and on the street. Goal:

To teach the fundamentals of police work to youth from high-risk neighborhoods who have expressed an interest in police work

Method(s):

Education on motor vehicle laws, drugs, the SWAT unit and gun safety

Encourage enrollment in the academy by at-risk youth
