As a way of involving citizens in the growing arts community in Fall River, the Lower Highlands Historic Downtown Neighborhood Association held its first "Arts Around the Block" event along Purchase Street on Sunday, September 17, 2006. A variety of visual artists, musical performers and dancers from the Fall River Area entertained neighbors and others who strolled along the three blocks from Franklin to Cherry Street that were closed off for the event. This is the first public event of the newly-formed group which hopes to sponsor more events in the North Main Street and Lower Highlands area.
