Action Plan Participant:
Lower Highlands Historic Downtown Neighborhood Association

The Lower Highlands Historic Downtown Neighborhood Association holds an annual event along Purchase Street to showcase a variety of visual artists, musical performers and dancers from the Fall River Area along the three blocks from Franklin to Cherry Street that are closed off for the event. The event lowers crime by increasing neighborhood cohesion.

 

Priority Area:  Safety and Substance Abuse  Funded by a Healthy City micro-grant supported by
Priority Sub-Area:   

1, A) increased community policing and personal safety

Goal:

To increase neighborhood cohesion

Method(s):

Sponsor one or more events annually
Timeline:          

September  2006 to September 2007

Indicators:        Better sense of safety among local residents
Progress: Successful program has been replicated in subsequent years
